eMarketing Software and Text Formatting

Let’s assume that you’ve bitten the bullet upon recognizing that eMarketing is your ticket toward bringing a more targeted & less expensive message to your audience and have signed up to use the Ennect Suite.  Within each of the four Ennect apps there are several audience-facing areas requiring editing, including mail templates, survey pages, event website pages and invitations.  Each of these come with standard plain formatting but each also allow for significant customization.

In two of our tools, customization comes easy with a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor interface; but in other tools the text fields allow for insertion of HTML code, the use of which can be daunting for the uninitiated.  The web, though, really is your friend at this point.  If for example you merely wish to bold or italicize text, and you haven’t a clue how to do that, either google “HTML bold” or go to EnnectMail’s Help section and choose one of the HTML help site links.

By googling “HTML bold” (I tend to google before using help links) one of the links will show you how to use the HTML bold & strong tags.  By jumping into HTML with this type of brief tutorial, you will have embarked upon a strange new odyssey into understanding text formatting.  When working with web tools, we’re still at the stage where text formatting is a crucial part of getting your message across to your audience.  By formatting with <b>, <i> and <br> (for line breaks) within the simple editors such as those for creating questions in Survey and Sweeps, you can create interesting readable text where before there was no structure to ease an audience member through your message.

With formatting, you’ve begun to see how to personalize and adapt a simple set of emarketing tools to the dissemination of your message.  Be forewarned, however: too much formatting can distort the message, and may not be allowed by the text editor. Take some time to play and learn, or connect with us via our Live Chat to ask about what may work.
